Get Training Online, On Your Own Time

The National Highway Institute (NHI) is offering free online training modules based on the Integrated Materials and Construction Practices (IMCP) for Concrete Pavement manual, a comprehensive guide to concrete pavement design and construction developed by the National Concrete Pavement Technology Center at Iowa State University. With these modules, you’ll be able to get the concrete pavement knowledge you need—from your own computer and at your own pace.

The first module, “Hardened Concrete Properties—Durability” (FHWA-NHI-134075), is available now. To access the training, simply visit the NHI homepage and use your email address and some basic information to sign up for a username and password. Find the “Durability” module and go through the “checkout” process to view the training. Don’t worry—the site looks like an online store, but the module’s price is listed as $0. You can find more information about signing up for your free online training here.

The hour-long module is targeted toward federal, state, and local agency and industry personnel who want to better understand the material and construction factors that contribute to durable concrete pavements. Topics include permeability, alkali-silica reaction, abrasion resistance, and frost and sulfate resistance, as well as ways to test the variables affecting concrete durability.

More modules based on the IMCP manual will become available as they are converted to web-based training. Stay up to date on the available training modules by visiting the NHI’s homepage and checking out the modules listed in the right-hand column under the “Web Course” icon.

You can also access the online training modules from the CP Tech Center's homepage.
