Introduce Young People to “Invisible” Careers
Go! is a free, fun, and informative online magazine that opens the eyes of junior and senior high school students to the world of transportation and the surprising variety of careers they can find there.
The April–May 2008 issue of Go! is a lively introduction to concrete pavements. In one article, an animated graphic illustrates the chemical processes that occur as cement paste and aggregate become concrete.
Other article topics include
- rain-friendly pervious sidewalks and parking lots,
- basic steps in constructing concrete pavements, and
- benefits of concrete for mitigating urban heat islands.
