Senator Grassley Honored at Center Meeting
U.S. Senator Charles Grassley was presented the “Highway Hero Award” from the American Highway Users Alliance at a meeting of the PCC Center Research and Technology Committees in March 2005.
Gordon Smith, Iowa Concrete Paving Association president, says, “Senator Grassley has been a great supporter of sound transportation investments. Senator Grassley has been a supporter of the PCC Center and of their work, which will benefit the taxpaying public.”
Bob Steffes Recognized for Achievements
Bob Steffes, research engineer with the PCC Center, was presented with the Marlin J. Knutson Award for Technical Achievement at the American Concrete Pavement Association Annual Convention in December 2004. This prestigious award is presented annually to an individual or group who has made significant contributions to advance the development and implementation of innovative technical best practice approaches in the design and construction of concrete pavements.
Steffes received the award for his outstanding work and numerous contributions in improving the quality of concrete pavement technology, particularly in advancing longitudinal jointing practices. Steffes currently manages the Mobile Concrete Research Lab and conducts research for the center.
