The Manual

The 350-page IMCP Manual provides a ready reference for anyone involved in design or construction of concrete pavements. The intended audience is state DOTs, engineering consultants, materials suppliers, contractors, construction supervisors, tradespeople, quality control personnel, and technicians.

The 10-chapter manual compiles information about technologies, tests, and new practices that will optimize materials selection, mix design, and construction practices.

Training

During development of the IMCP Manual, the Technical Advisory Subcommittee (TASC) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) decided that the end users must have appropriate training regarding the contents of the manual. Under the guidance of the TASC and FHWA, a complementary training project was led by the CP Tech Center.

The team developed presentation modules and technical summaries. During the first five months of 2007, six one-day workshops and five two-day workshops were held. Approximately 625 participants attended the workshops in seven states.

Additional Training

Due to the demand for additional training, the CP Tech Center, FHWA, and industry will offer additional workshops in 2008. They will also expand the training program to include Train the Trainer and Training on Demand programs. In subsequent years, ACPA will continue the training.

An additional 5,000 copies of the IMCP Manual will be printed.
