Material and Construction Optimization
for Prevention of Premature Pavement Distress in PCC Pavements

Suite of Tests

The heart of this research is the suite of tests that will be developed and recommended as a procedure to ensure durable pavements. Tests are needed to address the characteristics of concrete as they relate to the three phases in the design and construction process.

A group of tests will be developed that addresses a project's phases of design, verification, and quality control/quality assurance:

The researchers are developing a matrix to organize the tests. The matrix will change as the project continues and as more tests are discovered through the data collection process and information from others.

The tests in the matrix will be evaluated for their effectiveness in predicting and determining material and concrete characteristics. Test procedure modifications may be proposed. New tests may be developed, if needed.
