About the Project
Funding
Note that funding for this project is proposed to come from participating states, industry sponsors, and the Center for Portland Cement Concrete Pavement Technology (PCC Center) at Iowa State University.
From Pooled Fund Participants
The plan for this project is to bring together states that will commit $15,000 per year for 5 years for a total commitment of $75,000. This can be in a one-time payment or $15,000 per year for 5 years beginning with either fiscal year 2003 or 2004. As of summer 2003, 16 states have agreed to participate. The $1,200,000 generated by these states will be combined with the commitment of other funds to accomplish this project.
Industry Support
It is proposed that $200,000 in support for this project be raised by the construction industry. The PCC Center and the Iowa Concrete Paving Association will coordinate this effort.
Iowa Department of Transportation and the Center for Portland Cement Concrete Pavement Technology
$314,000 has already been committed to a lead project in the overall work program entitled: Materials and Mix Optimization Procedures for PCC Pavements. This funding comes from the Iowa Highway Research Board through the Iowa Department of Transportation in the amount of $160,000 plus federal funds in the amount of $154,000 that are available to the PCC Center at Iowa State University. This project has been reviewed by the 10 member states in the MC2 (Midwest Concrete Consortium) and support given for proceeding with this project.
The PCC Center has received federal appropriations for research in pcc paving and will commit $500,000 of the 2003 appropriate to this project.
